The term "Ethics" has evolved from the Greek word "Ethos," which means character. Ethics deals with the person's conscience. It is an intuition or judgment of an intellect which differentiate right and wrong. Ethics studies the moral behavior of humans. It depicts that how one should act. Education is the fundamental right of citizen according to constitution. It nurtures the mind and builds the character. Education is not just a qualification but process. In today's world, we are dealing with many difficulties and adversities in all aspects. The solution of all problems is in instigation of values in human beings. Ethical education can lead us to a better society. This article focuses on establishment of ethical education system based on the teachings of divine soul Swami Vivekananda.

Key words: Ethical education, ethics, right to education, Swami Vivekananda
"We want that education by which character is formed, the strength of mind is increased, intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet."

-Swami Vivekananda

Right to education is the fundamental right of a citizen in Indian constitution. Education is the process of nurturing the very existence of human being. However, unfortunately our education system has become limited to qualifications. It is not merely the transfer and storage of information. Swami Vivekananda has rightly quoted that, "The present system of education is all wrong. The mind is crammed with facts before it knows how to think. Control of the mind should be taught first. The education that you are receiving now in schools and colleges is only making you a race of dyspeptics. You are working like machines merely, and living a jellyfish existence." The current scenario of the education system is same as it was in the era of Swami Vivekananda. Technologically we have upgraded our nation but morally we have degraded. Passing the examinations does not make the person an authentic human being. We measure the breadth of education by evaluating the memory only. We have adopted western culture very superficially in terms of technology and lifestyle. We have failed as far as the adoption of discipline, cleanliness, and respect for humanity is concerned. We are facing traumatic situation as our nation is flooded with crimes such as corruption, rape, and murder. Our youth is driven in wrong direction. "Everything is fine" and "What difference does it make?," are the most favorite reactions of our younger generation. Though technologically we have made tremendous progress, it is not harmonious with the humanity. The relations have become virtual as a result of social networking websites. We have lost the depth of feelings and thoughts. It feels despairing while seeing confused, shattered, arrogant cold blooded or impatient faces of youth. Students either cheat or commit suicide due to fear of exams or results. We as a parent, teacher or friend are not able to instill the values and virtues in our youth. It is not about youth only it is about all of us as a society. Hence, called educated people can easily adopt the bad habits such as smoking, drinking, and drug addiction. Rate of crimes has been enormously increasing. It shows the denial of the very existence of humanity. Women are being educated and empowered but still they are victimized.

As said by Swamiji, "The education which does not help the common mass of people to equip themselves for the struggle of life, which does not bring out the strength of character, a spirit of philanthropy, and the courage of a lion-is it worth the name?" We have failed to imbibe the qualities such as patience, perseverance, truthfulness, and strength of spirit by means of education. We are ready to pay agents while seeking a driving license, movie tickets or passports. Corruption is everywhere, right from admission office of kindergarten to the parliament house. This shows a lack of transparency and ethics. This is not criticism. It is an observation, which has emerged from experiences. Let's each of us be a sculptor to mold our younger generation to become souls with pure hearts and strong minds on the path carved by Swami Vivekananda.
