  Abstract

Just as DNA is for life so also it is for liberation. Vedic Astrology (Vedānga) states that Moon (manokāraka) significator of mind, Jupiter (Gnānakāraka) significator of wisdom, and Saturn (Vairāgyakāraka) significator of renunciation, mostly in conjunction in natal chart, play a significant role in a native obtaining liberation of soul from bondage. It is found that the cosmic counterparts of the DNA molecules in the supercoiling of DNA and Junk DNA are plausibly responsible for a native to obtain liberation from the death-birth cycle. This has been discussed in this paper with case studies of two enlightened souls.

  Introduction Top

Astronomy has identified itself with the knowledge of the physical universe [1] whereas Vedic Astrology is the life side of Astronomy. Since the origin of life is from the planets and space ruled by Astronomy, it is plausible to assume that life is also ordained by them ruled by Vedic Astrology. Life originates in Space according to Vedas and the fact is also scientifically validated by NASA. NASA reported that life building blocks of DNA are available as ready-made kits in space and delivered to the Earth by meteorites.[2] Researchers at the European Planetary Science Congress suggested microorganisms that crashed to Earth embedded in the fragments of distant planets might have been the sprouts of life on this planet.[3]

  Junk Dna Top

The average human uses only 15% of their DNA that no one really disputes it. The remaining 85% of it is called “junk DNA.” The important and highly relevant question is what is the purpose of the junk DNA? At the same time, what is the purpose of the other 85% of the brain we don't currently use? We might even ask: Did we evolve a brain we don't use? Did we evolve DNA that is just junk? These are all questions that cannot be answered straight away. However, a plausible explanation can be afforded to understand the mystery behind. The author opines that highly enlightened souls utilize this so-called junk DNA.

  Hindu Concept of Meteorites Top

Varāhamihira, Indian Astrologer and Astronomer par excellence of the 5th century, states that the meteorites are nothing but the forms of those who fall down to be reborn after having enjoyed the fruits of their meritorious deeds in heaven. They are divided into five categories viz. Ignescent Balls, Meteors, Thunder-bolts, Lightning, and Shooting Stars (Comets).[4] Blank reported new evidence that comets deposited building blocks of life.

Translation: When they have thus enjoyed heavenly sense pleasure, they return to this mortal planet again. Thus, through the Vedic principles, they achieve only flickering happiness.

Dna Molecules Being Intact in Meteorites Top

”Our research shows that the building blocks of life could, indeed, have remained intact despite the tremendous shock wave and other violent conditions in a comet impact,” Blank said. “Comets really would have been the ideal packages for delivering ingredients for the chemical evolution thought to have resulted in life.” The amino acids did not break down due to the heat and shock of the simulated crash. Indeed, they began forming the so-called “peptide bonds” that link amino acids together into proteins. The pressure from the impact of the crash apparently offset the intense heat and also supplied the energy needed to create the peptides, she explained. In other experiments, Blank's team used sophisticated computer models to simulate conditions as comets collided with Earth. Blank suggested that there may well have been multiple deliveries of seedlings of life through the years from comets, asteroids, and meteorites.[5] Therefore, in a meteorite, the building blocks of life remained intact despite the tremendous shock wave and other violent conditions after collision.[7]

Translation: The soul can never be cut into pieces by any weapon, nor can he be burnt by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind.

Mass of the Planets and Molecular Weights of Dna Molecules Top

The mass of the planets is considered as the criterion for the plausible correlation of them as cosmic counterparts of the different primary nucleobases of DNA (G, C, A, T) based on their molecular weights, Jupiter is by far the most massive planet; Saturn trails it. Uranus, Neptune, Earth, Venus, Mars, and Pluto are orders of magnitude less massive.[9] Vedic Astrology does not recognize planets, namely Uranus and Neptune, situated beyond the orbit of Saturn for scientific reasons [Table 1].[10]

  Dna and Kundalini Top

DNA has two strands in the form of a helical spiral, winding around a helix axis in a right-handed spiral. While this is so of DNA, the Kundalini in Yoga Sāstra, the divine evolutionary force that enlightens and bestows immortality when activated has a similar structure. Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning either “coiled up” or “coiling like a snake.” The coiled snake stands for the helical form of the DNA and the protein builder RNA, the two templates of life. Though the molecules have several billion repetitive units they are made up of five organic bases of the DNA, three of which are common to both DNA and RNA and one is exclusive to each.[11] The five organic bases of the DNA molecules perhaps stand for the five heads of Anantha [Figure 1].

“chakrasw” (The Wheels of Energy) Top

There are 7 Chakras: The wheels of energy-in the astral body. Six of them are found along the spine, and the seventh is located at the crown of the head. They represent colors of the light spectrum (VIBGYOR) [Figure 2]. Chakras are powerful energy centers in the body. Although they are invisible to the eye, these wheels of spiritual energy balance the body and spirit.

The Chakras store dynamic energy known to the Yogis in India as Kundalini, to the Chinese as Chi and to the Japanese as Ki [Table 2]. The physiological axis within our bodies contains three energy pathways that feed the seven Chakras. The “Subhuman” is the central nervous system within our spinal axis. There are also two subtle channels, the Ida and Pingala that circle around the spine creating a double helix similar to double helix DNA.

The three lower Chakras correlate to basic primary needs, those of survival, procreation, and will. The four higher Chakras correlate to the psychological make-up and represent higher spiritual qualities such as love, compassion, and understanding [Figure 3].

The Chakras store dynamic energy known to the Yogis in India as Kundalini. Starting from the bottom, the colors (VIBGYOR) of the three lower Chakras are Red, Orange, and Yellow; and the four upper Chakras are Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet, respectively. Six of them are found along the spine, and the seventh is located at the crown of the head. One who raises the Kundalini to the crown of the head through meditation attains liberation, says Yoga Sāstra. The crown Chakra is of violet color. This is akin to the electromagnetic spectrum [Figure 4]. The wavelength of a sinusoidal waveform traveling at constant speed “v” is given by v = λf. Raising the Kundalini to the crown of the head “SahasrāraChakra of violet color tunes the body and mind to the highest level of frequency and shortest wavelength, enables to see matter of several times below the subatomic level with a steady state of mind.

When Kundalini rises to the pineal gland (6th Chakra) and then through “Cerebrum” above the body to “SahasrāraChakra (the seventh Chakra), the individual attains liberation of soul from bondage, that is, Moksha. The sequence of seven Chakras of Kundalini is VIBGYOR, the electromagnetic spectrum. Shasrāra Chakra is of violet color [Figure 5].

The wavelength of a sinusoidal waveform traveling at constant speed “v” is given by v = λf. Raising the Kundalini to the crown of the head “Sahasrāra” Chakra of violet color tunes the body and mind to the highest level of frequency “f” and shortest wavelength “λ,” enables to see matter of several times below the subatomic level without any lens medium and with a steady state of mind.

v = λf.

”v” can reach a maximum value of speed of light and limited to “c” (the velocity of light) in

E = mc 2

Then the value of “E” (energy) becomes enormous for a mass “m” of Kundalini, which gives rise to the development of new states of consciousness” in sages and seers.

  Evolution Top

Clearly, there is no survival advantage to having evolved a brain or DNA that is not being used. More likely, mankind may evolve and use the whole brain at some point. The elimination of all the negatives and useless thoughts and/or emotions, humans should be able to reach stunning new heights-enlightenment. It is a process of evolution, a process of continuous change of species to a human being and then cosmic evolution continuous from primitive man to a man bordering on divinity and finally divines himself.

Darwin's theory of evolution as a continuous process received a jolt when the change of form, after the appearance of the human, came to a grinding halt. But, according to Hindu philosophy, evolution is both continuous and cosmic. Sir John Woodroffe (1865–1936) states “it may be interesting to note that some ancient Purānas of the Hindus record in detail this evolutionary journey.” For example, the Vishnu Purāna states that there are a total of 8,400,000 species in the following order: 20,000 species of nonmobile plants etc., (Sthavara); 900,000 species of aquatic creatures; 900,000 species of amphibian and reptiles, 1,000,000 species of birds, etc.; 3,000,000 species of other creatures such as animals, etc.; 400,000 species of anthropoids (Vanaras), after which the human species (Manushya) of 200,000 varieties come into being, and man then engages in purposeful activity to attain perfection.” Birth as a human being is ultimate as far as the change in form is concerned. Only the human is endowed with mental faculties to discriminate good from bad. The human makeup can be categorized into four elements: (1) Intellectual (2) Physical (3) Emotional and (4) Spiritual [Figure 6].
Figure 6: Classification of human makeup

Our life experiences shape with the first three elements and together with our DNA, we become defined. Perhaps, only 15% of DNA is utilized by almost all of us for the makeup of first three elements, in other words, utilization of the three lower Chakras of Kundalini. As has been stated elsewhere, the dormant force of Kundalini seems to account for 85% of unused DNA. One in a billion is completely made up of the 4th element – Spiritual which may perhaps be the case of highly enlightened souls plausibly that require total utilization of 100% DNA. DNA can adopt different alternative structures.

Translation: Among thousands of men scarcely one strives for perfection, and of those who strive and succeed, scarcely one knows me in truth.

  Super Coiling of Dna Top

The G-C pairs are joined by 3 hydrogen bonds and normally possess more energy and are more stable than AT pairs because they have an additional hydrogen bond, unlike AT pairs which are joined by only 2 hydrogen bonds. As has been stated elsewhere this is due to the fact that the Sun, cosmic counterpart of hydrogen, being the enemy of Saturn and Venus, cosmic counterparts of A and T, A-T pairs are joined by 2 hydrogen bonds only while the G-C pairs, cosmic counterparts of Jupiter and Mars, being the friends of Sun are joined by 3 hydrogen bonds. Unlike the nucleotide bases which are rigid, the sugar ring affords itself to be easily bent into various shapes as different structural forms of DNA. As DNA can adopt different alternative structures, the high energy state of the DNA double helix due to DNA supercoiling becomes twisted around itself.

  Liberation of Soul Top

This is evidenced by the fact that GC rich nucleotide with strong sugar rings rendering the supercoiling of DNA with high energy state leads to liberation since their cosmic counterparts (Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, and Moon) configuration in the horoscopes of great saints, who attained liberation, were very strong and satisfies the Vedic Astrological dictum for liberation.

Only two horoscopes of highly enlightened saints of Hindu culture like: (i) Master Rāmakrishna Paramahamsa [Chart 1 [Additional file 1]]; and (ii) Swāmi Vivekānanda [Chart 2 [Additional file 2]], the Hindu Monk of India and disciple of Master Rāmakrishna Paramahamsa, were taken for examination as a large sample could not be considered for want of veracity of the birth time. In the process of examination of these two horoscopes, [Figure 7], a rule emerged from the configuration of cosmic counterparts of DNA in the horoscopes.

The Master, Rāmakrishna Paramahamsa, (Parama Hamsa means supreme Swan) left his mundane body in the latter half of 1886. His end occurred in Sun Daśa - Saturn Bhukti. The end is extraordinary as seen by the by the exaltation of Jupiter, Lord of the Ascendant and the 10th House. The Master, Rāmakrishna Paramahamsa, (Parama Hamsa means supreme Swan) left his mundane body in the latter half of 1886.[13] His end occurred in Sun Daś - Saturn Bhukti. The end is extraordinary as seen by the exaltation of Jupiter, Lord of the Ascendant and the 10th House. Jupiter aspects the Rising Sign and also Saturn placed in Scorpio in the 9th House with his special aspect. Saturn, the Bhuktinādha is (parivrājaka and ayushkāraka) significator of renunciation and longevity, respectively, and Daśānādha Sun is the (Ātmakāraka) significator of soul. Hence, he obtained liberation. It may be noted that it was indeed liberation and not death as the event did occur in the period of Sun Daś - Saturn Bhukti, the two planets responsible for liberation of soul of any individual from the endless birth-death cycle. The esoteric meaning of the solar system is in point for understanding liberation.[14]

Swami Vivekananda was seen intently studying the almanac from a few days prior to his demise. He even pointed the spot for his cremation and told several people that he would not live to be forty. The Swāmy left his mundane body on his own volition in 1902. Vivekananda died at 10 min past 9 pm on July 4, 1902, while he was meditating. A little blood in the Swāmi's nostrils, his mouth, and in his eyes was noticed which was due to rupture of the blood vessel in the brain according to doctors.

According to his disciples, it was due to the escape of his soul through Brahmarandhra, the aperture in the crown of the head, which must have been pierced when he attained Mahāsamādhi. Thus, the end of Swāmi is unique and came on his own volition.[15] His end came in Saturn Daś - Sun Bhukti. The Bhuktinādha, Sun, does not own either the 2nd or the 7th House (the two death inflicting houses) from any point. The end is extraordinary as seen by the exaltation of Saturn. Saturn, the Daśānādha, is the significator of renunciation and significator of longevity, and Sun, the Bhuktinādha, is the (Ātmakāraka) significator of soul. He is the lord of the 8th House signifying longevity and also the significator of the soul. As has already been stated elsewhere, indeed, he obtained liberation. It may be noted that it was indeed liberation and not death as the event did occur in Saturn Daś - Sun Bhukti, the two planets responsible for the liberation of any individual from the death-birth cycle.[16]

In Chart 1, exalted Jupiter (G), Lord of the Rising Sign, is in Parivartana with Moon. Moon is very powerful in the chart as the Lord of the 5th House and aspected by Jupiter, Lord of the 10th House. Moon, thus plays a very dynamic part in the DNA, Jupiter (G) aspects Moon (sugar molecule) and Mercury (phosphate molecule) combination, with his special aspect. It forms a GC nucleotide in the Rising Sign with Sun as nucleus and Sun in conjunction with Mars.

The G-C pairs are joined by 3 hydrogen bonds and normally possess more energy and are more stable than AT pairs because they have an additional hydrogen bond, unlike AT pairs which are joined by 2 hydrogen bonds only. Unlike the Nucleotide bases which are rigid, the sugar ring affords itself to be easily bent into various shapes as different structural forms of DNA. DNA can adopt different alternative structures, the high energy state of the DNA double helix due to DNA supercoiling becomes twisted around it.

The DNA supercoiling due to high energy state of DNA appears to be similar to Kundalini in a Yogi which inference can be drawn from the fact that when Ramakrishna Paramahamsa touched Swāmi Vivekananda for the first time, Swāmi experienced an alteration of consciousness. Swāmi Vivekananda felt that what he received was like a very high energy electric shock and cried out at that time, apprehending death. The appearance of supercoiling of Kundalini is similar to the symbol of infinity in mathematics seems to represent the infinite spiritual energy in an individual bordering on divinity.

In Chart 2, exalted Saturn (A), Lord of the Rising Sign, is in Parivartana with Venus (T). Saturn with Moon (sugar) in the 10th House and Mercury (phosphate) in the Rising Sign with Venus combine to form an AT nucleotide with Sun being also in the Rising Sign as a nucleus. As stated earlier, the Master has GC nucleotide which has higher energy than that of his disciple Swami, who has the AT nucleotide.

It is observed that Charts 1 and 2 are similar in terms of DNA interpretation. From the standpoint of DNA, it can be summarized that AT-rich or GC-rich zone is prominent, and a rule evolved thus, that: (i) A GC or AT nucleotide need to be formed which means that either Jupiter or Saturn shall be the Ascendant Lord; (ii) that the Ascendant Lord should be in exaltation besides being either Lord of the 10th House or placed in the 10th House from the Rising Sign; (iii) Moon need to be powerful for supercoiling for high energy; (iv) Sun as nucleus need to be in the Rising Sign, for one to attain liberation; and that (v) liberation occurs either in Sun Daś - Saturn Bhukti or Saturn Daś - Sun Bhukti only, others things remaining the same.

Astrological dictum according to Varāhamihira is that the three Planets Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn together confer liberation. From the observation of charts, identical factors are noted in Charts 1 and 2 fit into the astrological dictum. It is found that in Chart 1, the Ascendant Lord is also the Lord of the 10th House and is exalted in the 5th House. He is powerful by being in Parivartana with the Lord of the 5th House. In Chart 2, the Ascendant Lord is in Parivartana with the Lord of the 5th and 10th Houses and is exalted and powerful. The Ascendant Lord is Jupiter in the 1st Chart while it is Saturn in the 2nd Chart, and each hold connected to Sun, Moon, and Mercury satisfies the astrological dictum.

The abovementioned astrological dictum appears in “Gajendra Moksham.” It is the story of Purānic legend Indradyumna from Bhāgavata Purāna.[17] Lord Vishnu came down to Earth to protect Gajendra(elephant) from near death of the clutches of Makara (crocodile). The long passage of time, nearly 1000 years, fighting the crocodile the strength of the elephant, both mental and physical, as well as his energy slowly depleted while that of the aquatic animal increased. Thus, when the elephant was in a sad situation and despaired of his life, unable to free himself from the clutches of the crocodile, the elephant in a hush filled its trunk full with muddy water along with baby crocodiles, small fish, and crabs. The elephant raised its trunk high up toward the sky and spewed the muddy water with all its might. Allegorically, it is said that the baby crocodiles fell in Capricorn, the small fish in Pisces, and the crabs in Cancer signs of the Zodiac, respectively. It can be easily observed that Saturn, Jupiter, and Moon are the Lords of Capricorn, Pisces, and Cancer, respectively. These are the three main planets of Vedic Astrology for Moksha aspect to be predominant. The zodiacal signs, Cancer, Capricorn, and Pisces are Jala-Tatwa or Watery signs. They are spiritual by nature. These signs, and natives with these signs and their Lords, Saturn, Jupiter, and Moon are strongly disposed in their horoscopes, will have the Moksha or Liberation aspect predominant. Thus, the planets and signs as aforementioned constitute the astrological dictum for liberation. Indeed, Master Rāmakrishna Paramahamsa and Swāmi Vivekananda have their Rising Signs of Pisces and Capricorn, respectively, satisfying the astrological dictum for the liberation of soul.

Strange as it may seem, the crocodile then adopted the form of a gandharva. His name was Huhu. He had been cursed by a sage that he would become a crocodile. And the sage had told him that he would be freed from the curse by Lord Vishnu. That had now happened. In fact, the elephant had earlier also been a king named Indradyumna. And he had been cursed by a sage that he would be born as an elephant. Indradyumna too was freed from his curse and became Lord Vishnu's companion.

  Conclusion Top

Life originates in Space according to Veda. Even souls evolve and finally obtain liberation. NASA found that life building blocks of DNA are available as ready-made kits in space and delivered to the Earth by meteorites. European Planetary Science Congress suggested that the microorganisms from the distant planets might have been the sprouts of life on this planet. Blank suggested that there may well have been multiple deliveries of seedlings of life through the years from comets, asteroids and meteorites. The building blocks of life remained intact despite the tremendous shock wave and other violent conditions after collision. Astronomy states that interplanetary transportation of meteorites is equally true.[18] This corroborates with the Vedas, Vedānga, Bhagavat Gita, and Hindu Mythology. Young Dhruva, the legend, became a star known as “Polaris.”
